WATCH D.O.G.S.® “Dads Of Great Students” began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale, Arkansas and has since grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into the school classrooms and hallways across the country, creating millions of hours of “in school” volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the educational process.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Thanks for your interest in being a Watch Dog at Alberta Smith! It really is a great program and provides a big help to the school and teachers on the days that we are there. One of the benefits of the program is that you get to spend time seeing your child learn at school and help in a safe, organized environment while also helping other kids who may need additional help. While it is an incredibly rewarding and fun thing to do, there are some housekeeping items and rules to run through:
You can sign up for a full day (preferred) or half day (morning or afternoon)
Only one WATCH DOG each day
The day is organized and scheduled and when you report to the office on your day, you will get a schedule letting you know where they need your help that day. Make sure to stick to that schedule as best you can since most teachers rely on you to help during their designated time.
You will have some time designated for you to be in your child's classroom and even see them other times in the day.
Pro tip: Find the kid who isn't doing so well, seems awkward, or maybe a little outcast. Those kids that need a little extra attention from grownups love the interaction. You never know what's going on in kid's lives and your interaction with that child might make their day or week or more.
If you would like to purchase a Watch Dog shirt of your own, there is a link provided below. If you do not want to have your own, then the school can provide one for you to borrow for the day and they will wash it for the next person.
Alberta Smith and the PTA really appreciate your participation and let's have a great year!
